Don't text while driving
VR simulation demonstrating the dangers of texting while driving
About the project
Based on an idea by Uniomédia, we developed a driving simulator for Aegon that lets anyone experience, without real injury, just how dangerous texting while driving can be. In this striking game, the driver sits in a car simulator, puts on an HTC Vive VR headset, and has to drive a virtual car through a city. All the while, in the VR space, the driver sees not only the steering wheel but also a mobile phone, on which messages keep arriving. These have to be answered, and at the same time — while typing — the driver must handle various traffic hazards: avoiding roadworks, dodging a car pulling out, and so on. Of course, this is only really possible if the driver doesn't actually look at the smartphone at all. VR-based simulators like this are a perfect solution for letting users experience and learn to handle various otherwise dangerous situations (occupational safety, machine operation, fire safety).
