AR History Lesson on the 100 Dirham Note

AR Történelemóra a 100 Dirhamon

About the project

To showcase the possibilities of Augmented Reality – and of course to build our own image – we created an iOS app that lets users view Dubai’s 40 years of development in 3D, sped up and simplified, using the 100 Dirham banknote (or without it, if one isn’t on hand). Under the wings of the falcon that comes to life on the banknote, skyscrapers rise from the ground, the world’s tallest building, the 828-meter Burj Khalifa, appears, and then control of the virtual city is handed over to the user. Everyone can set off fireworks as they like, place the flag of the 2020 World Expo atop the Burj – or even wrap the city in clouds. The 3D animation runs when the phone or tablet is pointed at the 100 Dirham banknote. For those who don’t have a 100 Dirham note on hand, the app also lets users explore the city without it, simply by tapping through the screen.
