The challenge

Medtronic needs to train large numbers of doctors and instructors worldwide in the safe use of the McGRATH videolaryngoscope. Practicing with real devices is expensive and requires an instructor, while first use on a patient carries risk.

The solution

ARworks built a VR simulator for the Meta Quest 3 in which the user practices the steps of intubation on an anatomically accurate, AI-driven virtual patient. The system evaluates movements in real time, simulates cases of varying difficulty, and automatically generates a result summary for the instructor.

How it works
01
Putting on the headset and selecting a practice mode
02
Preparing the device and patient in the virtual operating room
03
Performing intubation step by step, with real-time feedback
04
Automatic evaluation and instructor summary
What ARworks did
AI Prompting
Creating the personalities of the two 3D patients through prompting
3D Modeling and Animation
Modeling and animating the environments, products, and characters
Programming
Development of interactions and logic
Result

A simulator used in international training programs: measurable practice independent of location and instructor — without using real equipment or risking patients.
