Fish Feeding on Oculus Quest
Dive into the depths of the lake and choose the right food for the approaching fish
About the project
The One with Nature Hunting and Nature World Exhibition was held in Budapest from September 25 to October 14 at the renewed Hungexpo exhibition halls. In the exhibition's Fish, Water and Man hall, visitors could learn about Hungary's characteristic wetland habitats in a spectacular way. In the country's largest exhibition aquarium, for example, they could encounter fish up to 2 meters long and weighing 110 kilograms. In connection with this, we created a Virtual Reality application called VR Fish Feeding, aimed primarily at a younger target audience. Wearing an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, users found themselves at the bottom of a virtual freshwater river. Their task was to feed as many fish swimming toward them as possible with the appropriate food within the available 3 minutes. The application featured four different fish species that also occur in Hungary's natural waters, and each required a unique, matching food. Each fish only accepted the food that suited it — if the wrong food was offered, it swam away. Visitors could try the game in a specially designated area of the hall.
