Meta2 AR Glasses App
Perhaps the best automotive and real estate development demo made for AR glasses

Augmented Reality (AR) glasses will likely become very popular within a few years, but a truly usable device is – perhaps – still to arrive. At least that's what we thought too, until our long-awaited Meta2 AR glasses arrived and we created our first demo solution for them. The Meta2 is a PC-based AR headset – meaning it needs to be connected to an external, high-performance gaming laptop, which allows it to produce truly high-quality AR visuals. Like every other AR device, it places virtual content – typically animated 3D objects – in the space around us. To test its capabilities and see whether it can be used for business purposes, and thus whether we can recommend it to our clients (the answer to both questions is yes), we quickly built an app with two different pieces of content: The first is the latest 3D model of the Lexus LS, which appears right in front of the user's eyes as soon as they put on the glasses – they can freely walk around it and view it from any angle. Using the buttons on the wireless air mouse connected to the system, the user can move the car in any direction, rotate it, and even change its size. As a result, it can be placed on a table or on the floor, as if it were really there. The other 3D model built into the app is a future real estate development that currently exists only on the drawing board; like the car, it can be moved, resized, and placed anywhere in our environment. It can then be freely explored from every angle – and the interior of individual floors can also be viewed. This solution can be an ideal, very easily transportable replacement for physically built scale-model tables – and it can even be taken to every client meeting. We chose to use the air mouse, and the Xbox controller as an alternative, as the controller – even though the Meta2 is also capable of gesture control – because in the intended use case, at exhibitions or showrooms, it will mainly be used by people who are not yet familiar with the glasses, for whom learning to use gesture control would be too much effort. Our idea is that the device is controlled by the sales colleague standing next to the user, who guides the potential buyer through the car's most important features.
