Trophy Judging in Augmented Reality
AR application built for the Hunting World Exhibition, for Hololens 2 AR glasses
About the project
The One with Nature Hunting and Nature World Exhibition took place in Budapest at the renewed Hungexpo fairground from September 25 to October 14, 2021. The goal of the development was to use Augmented Reality technology to show exhibition visitors the criteria of trophy judging. Users had to put on a Hololens 2 AR headset and then look at a custom graphic marker placed on-site. Once the marker was recognized, award-winning red deer, fallow deer, wild boar, and other 3D trophies appeared in augmented reality. Every trophy shown in the application is the digital twin of a real, award-winning trophy. To create them, each trophy was first scanned, and the resulting 3D model was then optimized. For the red deer trophy, the objective judging criteria (e.g., number of points, spread, beam length, etc.) and the subjective, aesthetic elements (e.g., pearling, ice tines, etc.) appeared as animations at the corresponding points on the 3D model.
