Making a city model greener and more livable using iPad Pro-based Augmented Reality
About the project
The Planet Budapest 2021 Sustainability Expo took place from November 29 to December 5, 2021, at the renovated Hungexpo exhibition halls. The exhibition aimed to draw the public's attention, especially young people's, to unfavorable environmental, social, and economic trends, and to show that these negative changes overshadowing humanity's future can still be reversed. The AR content was synchronized with specific parts of the model, showing how and to what extent a city's appearance would change with more green surfaces and other modern solutions. As part of this, rooftop gardens filled with chirping birds appeared on top of buildings, as well as vertical hanging gardens on the sides of buildings. We also showed how solar sails and grassed tram tracks can make our cities cozier and more livable. Besides greening, we also brought the model to life, with moving trams, bicycles, and cars appearing thanks to AR technology.
