Augmented Reality-based sales support app for the machine industry
About the project
Our client, ASM Assembly System, was looking for a practical and easy-to-use tool to present their products and support sales. Since the production line is difficult to transport due to its size, using AR within an iPad app was an obvious choice. By using the cover and center pages of their existing sales brochure, we were able to present the entire product family. The presentation can be done handheld or on a table, and by tapping the “real size” button and placing the marker on the floor, the machine could be viewed at its actual, full size. This made it easy to check, for example, how it would compare to the size of a future production hall. The 3D model we created of the products had two layers: by removing the outer casing, we also showed the inside of the machine, with various infopoints providing additional information. In the second phase, we will use this model to show the machine in operation, and we will also add animated service guides. This way, we can support not only sales but also ongoing customer relationships. ASM sent the iPad app package to their sales representatives and sales partners, allowing them to present the product without having it on hand and to provide accurate information — even from the other side of the world.
