About the project

The Young Ranger app was created on behalf of Egy a Természettel Nonprofit Kft. Although the app is primarily aimed at younger users, its structure makes it an enjoyable experience for the whole family. It can be used in adult and child mode, and both modes offer similar tasks for which users earn points. The tasks available in the app are diverse. You can observe and read about animals living in your environment, and also learn how to record animal footprints in the field. The app doesn't only include mental tasks—it also takes movement and hiking into account. Choose how many push-ups you can do, complete them, and collect points for it. Similarly, you can set up a hike tailored to your own fitness level. Tasks can be combined, since you can also observe animals during a hike. After completing each task, you receive the corresponding points, which appear in your user account. The app must first be downloaded by an adult, who creates an account for their child within it. The child then downloads the app as well and logs in with the credentials received from the parent. The child can start completing tasks right away, but parents also have the option to put together custom task combinations for their child. The parent can see which tasks their child has completed and how many points they've earned for them. We recommend this app to any family that enjoys active, nature-based recreation and has an interest in the animal world. Be a smart ranger, a skilled ranger, and a fit ranger!

What ARworks did
UX/UI
Designing a fairy-tale-like look for the younger generation.
Concept design
When putting together the tasks, it was important to include mental, physical, outdoor, and indoor tasks alike.
App logic
Separate adult and child modes, but only an adult can create a child account. This way, the adult can also track their child's progress.
