About the project

In the Sniper VR application, users shoot with a Tikka T3X rifle. However, the key point of the application is not the shooting itself, but correctly adjusting the crosshair of the scope. Why does the crosshair need to be adjusted? Because at long distances, under changing weather conditions, the impact point of the fired bullet can shift relative to what the shooter sees through the scope. In the application, the user can shoot at long distances, and the wind speed and wind direction change from shot to shot, requiring the shooter to adapt accordingly. Upon entering the application, the user finds themselves on a shooting range, with the rifle placed on a table in front of them, and looking through the scope reveals a target several hundred meters away. Before shooting, the user receives the following data: target distance, wind direction, wind speed, and a table showing the bullet's ballistic data for the given distance and wind conditions. The user's task is to read the correct click value from the table and set it on the scope's crosshair, then, after receiving confirmation that the correct values have been set, they can fire the rifle. After shooting, the user can request a new target, receiving different distance and wind data than before. In the application, users can shoot at distances between 400 and 800 meters. The Sniper VR application was first presented at the 2024 Eurosatory conference. The application is available in Hungarian, English, French and German.
