Push-up reindeer for Santa
About the project
A slice of the wonderful world of Christmas came to life with the help of Augmented Reality in a promotion organized on December 5 and 6 along the storefront of one of the major hypermarket chains. Children arriving with shopping families could jump into the wheeled Santa cube, and on the screens of the hostesses' iPads, the cube would transform into a fantastic sleigh. In front of the sleigh appeared the reindeer pulling it, stamping its feet, sometimes lying down to rest, or even keeping itself warm by doing push-ups. The giant AR cube and the chair inside it functioned as a 3D augmented reality marker, so no matter which direction the hostesses pointed the iPad, the cube on the live image would be replaced by the sleigh. The screen content was also displayed on the deployed monitor via a wireless connection, and was likewise printed out through the same connection. Besides the printed photo, anyone could of course also receive the shared memory with the reindeer by email. Photos from the event: here
